In honor of the 50th anniversary of Love Records, Nylon 66’ers, a veteran of Finnish postmodern restaurant music, has created a record of Love Records material in their own style.
The album includes material from Piirpaukke (Konevitsan kirkonkellot), Otto Donner (Haka Blues), Hurriganes (Mister X), Kari Peitsamo (Nokia Rock), Pelle Million (Pelko ja viha), Kaj Chydenius (Laulu kuolleesta rakastetusta), Sehr Schnell (Neuroottiset pohkeet) and from the Rock And Roll Band (I’m Gonna Roll). Pelle Miljoona and Hank Damnfellow are visiting artist in the album.
Two videos have been released from the album: For Mods Only (originally Blues Section) in March and Miedo y Furia (originally Pelko ja viha, Pelle Miljoona 1980) in early May.
The album was recorded during the spring of 2016 in Turku and Helsinki and was produced by Jani Lankinen.
Why listen to the originals when you can listen to good covers?
Nylon 66’ers is a Turku-based instrumental band formed at the turn of the 80s and 90s, which during their career has released a lot of sound recordings: EP At The Copa! (’92), CD Absurdo (’93), CD Zum Teufel, Baby (’94), CD We Are Sailing (The Sea of Love) (’96), and CD Yeah Yeah Yeah (2006).
Over the years, the band has performed extensively, both in Finland and abroad. The current line-up of the band is Perttu Hemminki (organ), Peter Nordlund (guitar), Hoss Siivonen (bass) and Mikko Mielonen. In addition, the non-standard line-up includes Teho Majamäki (percussion), Hanna Turta (alto saxophone) and occasional other visitors.
With its activation, the band intends to offer their Love Records-inspired set also live on as diverse occasions as possible.
